Academy now sitting comfortably

As part of Kent BSF, Longfield Academy has benefitted from a complete new build. The new modern facilities incorporate a main hall, sports hall, art gallery, dance studio, drama studio, restaurant, gym and meeting rooms, and as a key part of the reconstruction are facilities for the academy's 35 autistic pupils.

Within the main hall is Auto-Q retractable seating by Stage Systems.  The seating accommodates pupils on the tiered structure fitted with the new Encore bench seat. This new design has been created in-house at Stage Systems, and is an upholstered bench with back-rest.  The back-rest simply locks in when in use and folds back to a compact format for storage. This comfortable solution combines a more luxurious option with the benefit of a bench for a greater seating capacity.

 
The drama studio is also a fully fitted with the latest facilities and includes staging, curtains and lighting from Stage Systems. 

The school's philosophy is "achieving excellence together" and this is certainly true of the array of facilities now in the new school.  In fact Longfield Academy has been nominated for the best BSF Academy by Partnerships for Schools for its annual Building Schools for the Future awards. The pupils moved into their new school in July 2011.
